Marushka Glissen/Relationship Visions

I have been a practicing psychotherapist since 1988 and started by learning family therapy.  Before that I was a speech therapist for 10 years and helped a lot of children with processing and articulation.  I got interested in psychology by working with several children who had emotional problems around stuttering and physical illness.  These kids captivated my interest, won my soul and motivated me to continue my education.

You know how they say that therapists become therapists because they want to figure out their own lives.  As the only child of  Holocaust survivors,  I probably survived by making sense of my family life.  In the last two decades my interests expanded and I now focus on couples, hypnotherapy, Internal Family Systems (a model developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz), stress management, anxiety and depression.  I have conducted experiential couples workshops at Esalen in California and on the east coast.  I use my spiritual background in meditation, QiGong, shamanism, and movement to inform my work with others.  My main interest is to help people see things a different way so they can free themselves of suffering.
